In last months AI News Ian Hawker shared with us his view of how AI may impact society in the next 5, 10 , 15 years. Some of these projections may seem fanciful to us now, but we have already come a long way. (see a pdf of Ian’s slides here.)
Four years ago, In November 2022 Open AI released ChatGPT to the public. It went viral. Today over a billion users use AI systems every month – many every day.
In 2023 u3a East Suffolk member Barry Claydon created an AI for Everyone community within the u3a. We now have thousands of engaged u3a members.
In this edition of our monthly AI News we are in reflective mood as we look back over the last four years.
Alan Freeland u3a Subject Advisor for AI will look at how AI Chatbots and associated tools have developed and we will also look at what the AI for Everyone team have done and, perhaps more revealingly, share some personal AI journeys from team members.
Alan will also highlight many of the ethical issues that AI is causing. In fact ethical considerations of AI will be a theme for the AI News talks in the coming months.
After a short break we will have a Q&A session and as well as asking questions or sharing your thoughts, we would love to hear about your own AI journey, whether you were with us from the start or just joined this year.
