Robert Eastaway will tell us the fascinating history of how Shakespeare was influenced by the mathematical world of Elizabethan England.  Shakespeare lived in a period of exciting mathematical innovations, from arithmetic to astronomy, and from probability to music.  Remarkably, many of those innovations are mentioned, or at least hinted at in his plays.

Rob has been Director of Maths Inspiration since it began in 2004. He is an author whose books on everyday maths include the bestselling  Maths On the Back of an Envelope and Much Ado About Numbers about maths and Shakespeare. He is the former puzzle adviser for New Scientist magazine, and regularly appears on award-winning BBC Radio 4 podcast More or Less.

He does talks for adults, teenagers and children that range from keynote lectures in front of several hundred to workshops for small groups. Whatever the audience and topic, Rob tries to combine surprise, accessibility and humour.
